Imaginary Painting

oil on canvas

The imaginary painting study included each person to write down their own individual imaginary artworks from their minds and the writings were then swapped between the students. Everyone had a random description of an imaginary drawing and we needed to paint it on the canvas we’ve stretched.

For my canvas I cut some wood in the wood workshop with correct angles and screwed them together to make a stretcher, finally added the canvas fabric and stapled it to the woods.

As my imaginary artwork was based on a bluebell forest i thought I can use a classic theme of a blue bell forest with tall not very wide and not too branched trees. HoweverI thought I could give it a slight different look than a classic view so I tried to use a more free style painting rather than detailing it through. I wanted everyone who looked at the painting to get the gist immediately and to see the calmness among the abstract expression of bluebell forest described on my piece of random paper.

I researched about photographs mostly as I knew there were great photographs taken by many people among bluebells. I looked up to BLUEBELL VISION by Doug Chinnery or BLUEBELLS IN WOODLAND By Adrian Bicker.
